2016 EXHIBITIONS part 10 - brvnara (cabin), Zagreb

The night of the opening of the upside down exhibition I met a guy who asked me if I would like to show something I haven't shown. Only one work has been hid away in my basement so the decision was made to present it to the good people of the world.

The place was literally a cabin in the middle of the city and the name of the exhibition was "Gradations". The paintings are nearly indestructible. Acrylic with collage and then permanently sealed with varnish. The big ones are 61x55 cm, the middle ones 51x43 cm and the small ones 43x25 cm. There is a lot of text on the works so if you are interested in the translation I would happily oblige.

2016 EXHIBITIONS part 9 - program Ilica Kulture, Zagreb

In cooperation with Gallery VN a local artist Leo Vukelić leased an empty place in the longest Zagreb street, Ilica. His goal was to make a temporary gallery space for anyone who would like to exhibit in a more and more abandoned type of city space which is being overrun by big brand names and shopping centers.

Enter 2016 exhibition #9. Since the paintings have already been exhibited in January in Gallery PIKTO (remember that my, among others, esteemed Philippine readers?) I couldn't show them again and not put a spin on it. So, with a dash of arrogance and a lack of innovative thought people were treated with "For the second time, upside down". Even put the name of the paintings upside down. That's how consistent a guy I am.

2016 EXHIBITIONS part 8 - Lipik with Love, Mountain home Omanovac

The girls from http://bashart.info/ (they stopped being women) made an art colony in Lipik and its Mountain home in Omanovac. There were a lot of us. We smiled, we ate, drank and arted (another new word) away our time. At the end of the day the so called Weekend Pop-Up exhibition occurred where every attendant of the colony showed their whole days work.

2016 EXHIBITIONS part 7 - Gallery VN

June saw the gathering of three artists who are comfortable with drawing and they were happily coerced into an exhibition. Since there are three artists, each of them had a solo exhibition because apparently it takes four people to form a group exhibition. What a weird universe we live in.

Welcome to the "Documentators"! Because we document our environment. Each in a different manner. With different motives. And motifs.

The name of the work is "Consolation". It is a 30 meter oil crayon drawing distributed in four pieces, and the idea is rooted in the work itself as a (pay attention) consolation for the viewer. I kinda gave up on the whole idea of saving the world even with the "one person at a time" framework. The practice of exhibiting art and with it the work itself is practically ignored by the general population except for the (for now) few people who can when standing in front of the drawing that there is someone who thinks and is driven by similar elements.
Maybe the framework I am going to get accustomed to is "one witness at a time", trying to lead by example while not wasting time on those who do not want to be changed.

2016 EXHIBITIONS part 6 - Project 15 by Živi Atelje DK

Had to illustrate a short story from Julia Franck. Too bad she wasn't there to check it out. I was told she would come and even give me a commentary and include me in her next book that was supposed to be made into a movie franchise. Would a movie cameo be too much? Absolutely not. Maybe I would lead the franchise after the main character would die in the fifth act of the first one. Imagine an action figurine of me. ME! I am... Sounds about right.

But, all wishful thinking aside, I was drawing a work for the next exhibition and this chance was great to take a vacation from the massive work. So I made two 50x70 cm drawings illustrating the behavior of the main character and the death of her cat as something deserved because of her inactivity and complete and utter obliviousness to her surroundings.

The group exhibition is called "15" because there were fifteen authors, each for one story. You can look at us on the fourth picture. Photographs by Matej Subotić and Igor Nobilo.
